Exemptions
Some categories of visitors are exempt from payment. A subset must still book their exemption; others do not.
Exempt — booking required
The following categories do not pay the fee but must register on the official portal to receive a voucher to show at ticket checks.
- Residents and workers of the Veneto Region.
- Overnight guests in accommodations inside the municipality of Venice.
- Students in schools and universities of Venice.
- Owners of property inside the municipality of Venice.
- Relatives (up to a defined degree) visiting residents of the Ancient City.
- Visitors participating in official cultural, sports or institutional events.
Exempt — no booking required
The following categories are exempt from payment and from the obligation to register:
- Children under the age of 14.
- People with disabilities and one accompanying person.
- Residents of the municipality of Venice.
- Personnel of the healthcare service on duty.
- Members of law enforcement and civil protection on duty.
How to request an exemption
Start your booking on the payment page, select the exemption that matches your situation and upload the supporting document (if required). You will receive a QR-code voucher by email to show upon request.
